ABOUT THE STUDIO

Totally Obsessed.

With the logos, the posters, the color palettes, and the unapologetic visual boldness of the 1980s. And with making that energy work for your business today.

The Origin Story

Wake Me Up Before You Logo started as a side project and a blog. The idea was simple: write about 80s graphic design history for people who care about design but don't want to read academic papers about it. Write about Wham! logos and Memphis furniture and Miami Vice color palettes like they matter — because they do.

The design work followed naturally. Clients who read the blog started asking if we did client work. We did. We do. The same obsessive attention to visual history that goes into the writing goes into every logo, every poster, every brand identity we build.

The name is a joke and a manifesto. It's a joke because it's a Wham! reference and we're a design studio. It's a manifesto because the 80s understood something about visual communication that a lot of contemporary design has forgotten: boldness is not a bug. Loudness is not a flaw. Making people feel something is the whole point!

"Boldness is not a bug. Loudness is not a flaw. Making people feel something is the whole point."

Design Philosophy

Specificity over universality

The brands that try to appeal to everyone appeal to no one. The best logos, the best identities, the best visual systems have a point of view. We help you find yours.

Boldness is a strategy

In a world of beige brands and safe design, being visually bold is a competitive advantage. We make things that get noticed — not because they're loud, but because they're right.

History is a toolkit

The 80s solved a lot of visual problems in interesting ways. We study those solutions and apply them — with modern craft and intentionality — to contemporary design challenges.

Craft matters

Good ideas executed badly are still bad design. We obsess over kerning, color relationships, proportion, and the thousand small decisions that separate a logo from a mark.

Let's make something rad.

If you've read this far, you probably get it. Let's talk about your project.
